What do we believe?
About God
We believe that God is the supreme ruler of the universe. He is sovereign over all people and all things. He created the earth and all that is contains by merely speaking the words of creation(Genesis 1). We believe that God is intimately involved in the lives of all people and desires that all come to know him through his son, Jesus Christ. He is Holy, Just, Merciful, Gracious, and Worthy of all praise & honor. We believe that our God is one God who has chosen to manifest himself to us in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the sole judge of all humanity and all people will stand before Him to give an account of their life.
About the Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s holy Word. It is inerrant and infallible. Through the Bible, God reveals His character, plan, and His purpose for all mankind. God’s Word is the final authority on all matters of life. We believe that God’s Word is inspired by God, who dictated through the Holy Spirit, the words that were to be recorded by the Bible writers.
About Jesus
We believe that Jesus is the only begotten son of God the Father. He is the second person of the Holy Trinity. Jesus is God in the flesh, come to earth to redeem mankind from our sins. We believe he was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed many miracles, taught about the Kingdom of God, died a sacrificial death on the cross, was physically resurrected on the third day, ascended into Heaven, and will return again. He is the only way of salvation. For any person to receive eternal life, they must accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. He serves as our Great High Priest before God the Father, and will judge the world upon His return to earth.
About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity. He has been given to every person who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. He is our Comforter, Teacher, and Guide. The Holy Spirit convicts men of their sin, draws them to Jesus as Savior, and indwells the believer as God’s seal until the day of their death or Christ’s return. He leads the believer in worship of God the Father and his son, Jesus. We believe the Baptism of the Holy Spirit takes place at the moment of salvation. The believer is to be continually “filled” with the Holy Spirit in order to walk in obedience to God.
About Christ’s Return
We believe in the sure and certain return of Christ. We believe the “Church” will be taken in the rapture before the beginning of the Great Tribulation. After the Tribulation period of seven years, Jesus Christ will return to earth to set up his Kingdom for a period of one thousand years. At the conclusion of this period, He will pronounce final judgement on those who have refused to accept Him as Lord and Savior. We believe the time of His return has not, and will not, be revealed to any man, but has been determined by God the Father.
About the Church
We believe the “Church” is made up of every person who has repented of their sins and confessed Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. The local church is comprised of believers who unite together to worship and serve God in their area or community. Membership into the local church is extended to all who profess Jesus as Savior, and show evidence of living in obedience in His Word, regardless of race, gender, or economic status. The “Church” is the bride of Christ and has been commissioned by Him to share His love and truth with every person in the world.
How Do I Join New Home Baptist Church?
Membership into New Home Baptist Church is extended to any person who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and is living in obedience to His Word. We reserve the right to withhold or rescind membership privileges to anyone who is obviously, openly, and willfully living in disobedience to God’s Word. We accept members into our church through three methods:
Profession of Faith: When a person becomes a new believer by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, they have the option of uniting with our church upon the public profession of their faith. Statement of Faith: When a believer wishes to unite with our church and they had previously attended a church of a different Christian denomination, we receive them into our membership based on their “statement” and declaration of their salvation. Letter: When a believer wishes to join our church from another Baptist church, we receive them by asking for a “Letter of Recommendation” from their former church.
How do I become a Christian?
Becoming a Christian goes way beyond joining a church. Church membership cannot make an individual a Christian. If God is drawing you to become a Christian, consider the following steps, they’re as simple as A, B, C!
A-To become a follower of Jesus Christ, you must first Accept and Acknowledge that you are a sinner.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
“Sin” is defined as disobedience to God. Every person has disobeyed God and failed to live up to His standard of perfection.
B-Once we accept and acknowledge that we are a sinner, we must Believe upon Jesus Christ as our only hope for forgiveness of our sins. God sent his Son Jesus into the world to sacrifice Himself as payment for our sins.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Begotten Son, that who ever believed in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Jesus is God in the flesh. He willingly laid down his life to pray the penalty for your sin and to satisfy God’s judgement against your sin.
C-When you have chosen to believe in your heart that Jesus is your only way to obtain salvation, you are ready to Confess Him as your personal Lord, Master, & Savior.
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with the heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)
Confess Jesus as the master, ruler, and King of your life today! Ask God to forgive you of your sins and surrender control of your life to Him. If you have done this, tell everyone you know about what Jesus has done in your life. Get involved in a Bible believing, Bible teaching, church. Begin reading your Bible daily, starting in the New Testament. Pray every day, asking God to guide you in you new walk with Him.
